Troy is a professional and personable barber who, despite the simple task ahead of him, managed to make me feel perfectly at home in his shop and took care with the details of my haircut. I told him I needed a buzz all around, and after quickly doing the main shave, he was quite thorough with lining up the edges. In addition to the haircut, the shop was lively and a generally entertaining place to be. Not a single person who walked by failed to stop by and greet Troy and his counterpart working the other chair; you can tell they are firmly rooted in the community. "The People's Court" played in the background as patrons commented on who deserved the "ass whooping" they received or who "had it coming" over the course of the show. Turns out, Troy and I share an interest in pit bulls and dog training. At the end, Troy sprayed me with some "black magic hair spray" and sent me on my way with vague promises of brotherhood and my admittance into the neighborhood, which I greatly appreciated. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll certainly be back for a fresh cut!
My son loves this barbershop. He's been going to Troy for over 10 years. We've been to other barbers but they can't seem to get it right. My son's hair matches his mocha skin tone. Most barbers don't understand that his skin tone hair color will look much shorter if you cut it too short making him look bald, and that's not the look he wants. Troy got it right the first time because he has mastered his trade. Just be warned that you have to give yourself time. If you are in a rush you'll only get upset. They take their time on you. Also, be prepared for some stimulating conversation. My son tells me that they can talk (lol).
