We have a 22-year-old R22 air-conditioning system, with separate systems for the upstairs and downstairs. A few days ago, the evaporator coil above our furnace developed a major leak, and our air conditioning stopped working. Of course, this happened during some of the hottest weather of the year, with temperatures reaching around 100 degrees.
Because R22 systems are older, replacing components can be difficult. In our case, I already had plenty of R22 refrigerant, but a replacement R22 coil was considerably taller than our old one and wouldn't fit in the available space above the existing...read full review
