Love & Second Chances is a rescue organization based in Northern California, dedicated to finding loving homes for dogs. They operate a foster-based program with both local and international rescue efforts, aiming to connect animals with suitable owners throughout the Bay Area, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Canada.
The team at Love & Second Chances is passionate about animal welfare and believes that rescuing benefits not only the dogs but also the people involved. They emphasize thoroughness in their adoption process, prioritizing a careful assessment of compatibility between dogs and potential adopters. They work hard to ensure each dog finds the right family, often communicating closely with foster families and rescuers abroad to provide the best start for each dog.
Applicants can expect a detailed application process and open communication with foster families. Love & Second Chances prioritizes safety and provides resources and support, including assigning mentors to new adopters. They encourage the use of martingale collars for added security.
The organization is known for its commitment to the well-being of the dogs in its care. They are known to make decisions that benefit the dogs, even if it means separating siblings to minimize competition. This dedication to careful placement ensures a positive experience for both the dogs and their new families.
Love & Second Chances emphasizes patience and diligence in the adoption process. While the vetting system takes time, it aims to ensure a good match for both the dog and the potential owner. Their comprehensive approach and dedication to animal welfare make them a highly regarded rescue organization. Many adopters express gratitude for the support, communication, and love shown during the process, highlighting the organization’s strong network of fosters and international rescue efforts.
I just adopted my second dog from this rescue! They have been so supportive, helpful, encouraging to find just the right dog for me. They really vet the dogs that they fly over internationally, and have such a strong network of fosters and support to ensure the dogs receive the best care and start before heading to their forever homes.
We can’t say enough great things about love and second chances. We found our sweet girl June on the website and Melody, Donna, and team put so much love and care into each rescue. They are great with communicating and checking in with helpful tips before and after adoption. Our dog is from the international program in Korea and we were in constant communication with her rescuer and foster family over in Korea. They truly truly love each dog. We are so incredibly thankful for each team member we’ve encountered. We can’t stop recommending love and second chances to all our friends and family and will continue to do so! Thank you so much for bringing our sweet girl… read full review
Immensely grateful to Love & Second chances for meeting my best friend on the photo! Everyone I interacted with was responsive, helpful and really committed to the animals they care for. I also fostered for LSC and highly recommend this experience.
