“1989 Nail Bar is excellent! I was able to make an appointment, name the services I wanted - gel removal, builder gel infill overlay on natural nails, nail art - and then was met with full professionalism with Claire for my appointment. The salon was clean, friendly, and easy going. They carry a lot of Asian gel brands which I tend to prefer and was having a hard time finding in a short time researching.

Claire was an excellent nail tech who took my inspo - smoky/marbly magnet in a fall color palette - and worked through how she would accomplish it with their products, as well as communicating clearly what she was doing during each step (including asking if the service was feeling ok, things like possible heat spikes and my comfort level with the efiling sensations). I appreciated this so much as I was coming in cold as a new client and having felt left in the dark by techs in the past and not loving the results. I would absolutely recommend Claire if you are looking for more Asian styles nail sets (nuance nails, 3d art, certain types of colors) and an all around good experience. Thank you!“

“I called & made an appt for 4/19/25 for an acrylic nail fill ($35) pedicure ($25), exfoliating feet callouses ($5-$7), & plain colored polish. Thete's a $3 fee for credit card use. (I can't speak to walk-in appts, or decorative nail art abilities.) Brian has a conversational manner which makes it easy to feel comfortable. Rather than fill, Brian preferred to remove the old acrylic & gave me a new set for $3 extra. He did an excellent job & gave my fingernails a nice new shape. I liked the thin coat of acrylic versus thicker coats by other nail techs. Mary did my pedicure...another excellent job by a sweet lady. They have a great selection of gel as well as regular nail polishes, & great prices. I'll be back!“

She was so sweet and patient, even when I changed my mind a few times. The massage was also very relaxing. “I can't believe how mean their male nail artist is. The one with glasses. I was asking him to correct mistakes, for example one of my fingers was a deeper pink than the rest of my fingers. He then continued to blame me, saying "I asked you if this is fine!" I believe the gel blue light increased the color of my one nail that had an uneven amount of polish on it. I also had him give me a thinner French tip after he tried a very thick tip. He blamed me again saying "thats not French tip, that's a line." French tip can be thinly done. I was left with uneven nails. Throughout the appointment, after I asked him to fix things he kept telling me that I should just do my nails at home if I knew so much about nails. He was genuinely so mean. UPDATE: After I called the salon to explain this, they offered to fix my nails whenever I could come in. I did go in and got my nails redone by a very sweet nail artist. My nails came out beautifully too. The salon definitely took accountability for that experience. I am very grateful for their kindness and understanding!“

He was very attentive didn’t make me feel like a burden at all when I changed my mind halfway through the appointment on my color listened to me and made good conversation. Very nice service and the place was clean and friendly. They had happy TV on which was enjoyable and music that reminded me of Wii sports but it was nice.“

I booked the VIP pedicure because my feet desperately needed help, and I can honestly say it exceeded every expectation. I originally considered the Detox mix and chose red wine for my drink of choice; however, that seemed contradictory so I ultimately switched to the Relaxation one and kept the glass of red wine. The descriptions and photos online don’t do this place justice. The whole experience was pure luxury and I felt truly pampered.

Kelly was incredible—warm, attentive, and thorough. She explained each step as she went along, even the ingredients she was using. At one point, she gently suggested I close my eyes and just relax during the massage, paraffin wax, and leg mask—and it turned the service into a true reset. She really went above and beyond. The authenticity of our conversations, balanced with quiet moments to unwind, made it feel so thoughtfully personalized.

Something I didn’t even expect: the VIP pedicure also included callus removal, a lower leg massage, a shoulder massage, and a leg mask—none of which were listed on the menu! It felt like receiving little surprise gifts throughout the service.

Everyone at the salon got along so well, and the positive, friendly energy was contagious. They were so kind to my husband and little one when they came to pick me up. I left feeling not just pampered, but lighter and happier. This place is a gem—I can’t recommend it highly enough.“

“I was looking for a new mani/pedi spot in Costa Mesa and randomly stumbled upon this gem on a Sunday afternoon! I called ahead, and they were so kind and had now wait. They even went out of their way to send me a text of their address and the name of their business! Once I arrived, the two women were so lovely and provided me with a drink menu (tea, water, mimosa, or champagne) and offered me a menu of their offerings for their services. I was quickly attended to and immediately received my glass of champagne AND they put lemon slices in the foot soaking water. Extremely spa like. As a medical professional, I additionally appreciated that all of the equipment came out of sterilized packets from an autoclave. I will be returning to this salon and will recommend it to all! Booking - call ahead to make a reservation. I've only gone in the morning and it made the transition from my car into the nail chair so seamless! Service - excellent ladies that work here. It's a little tough to get an appointment in, but there's definitely a reason why. I've been coming here for a few years and I've always had a great experience with everything. Susan Park does fantastic nail art manicures, and Coleen is AMAZING taking care of my deep toenail beds. I've also had my nails done by both Ckelle and Evelyn, and they're wonderful. My nails are always so happy after leaving Lollipop. The parking can be a little tricky since they're at the Camp now, but it's so worth it if you're looking for a great manicure.“
