05/05/2022 I was doing research on companies that would repair the cracks in the mortar of the crown of my masonry chimney. Luckily, I was found Denise and Tony with United Chimney Service(s) Inc. Tony was able to give me a quote over the phone from the pictures I supplied. Instead of just sealing the cracks in the mortar of the crown Tony suggested a new system of removing the existing crown and mortar and installing a concrete and steel rebar crown. I was able to find this procedure online to help with my research. After checking reviews, the BBB and the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) I found that the BBB gave Tony’s Company a A+ and the CSLB had no history of complaints and that he had the required Contractor’s Bond and Workers’ Compensation. Having retired as a Combination Building and Fire Inspector I always do my due diligence in researching Contractors that I allow to work on my house. Although Tony doesn’t have his CSLB License Number on his website he does have it on his business cards. This is something that I look for when searching for a contractor. It’s amazing how many companies don’t return my calls when I ask them for their State License Number when they require one. Tony, Harvey and Isidro arrived just before the scheduled time and went right to work. The project took two days which included the concrete drying time. Tony also brought copies of the CSLB’s requirements to the job site. Tony worked alongside his crew to get the job completed. Harvey and Isidro setup tarps to protect the roof and ground below the roof. They also made sure they didn’t damage my gutters when using ladders. They also used a tarp in my front yard where they mixed the cement and took any dirty water with them and didn’t dump it in my yard. At the end of each day they used a blower to clean up after themselves. Tony always kept me advised of arrivals times during the project. Tony was also able to help my neighbor in finding the correct cap for the chimney. Unfortunately, reviews only give a maxim of a 5, but Tony, his Company and his crew should get a 10.
