I cannot recommend the services of Andrew (Andy) at BC Fireplace enough. Along with the administrative staff he took the time to review a video of our fireplace's defect even before visiting. Right after the service visit had concluded and the bill paid, I had noticed a slight barely perceptible problem. As Andy was about to drive away, I hailed him, and brought the problem to his attention. At no additional cost, he happily came back inside to re-troubleshoot the system for another 30 minutes, and installed 2 new components into the fireplace "just to be safe". The problem has not arisen since, and I credit it all to Andy's dogged persistence of the matter. Thank you,...read full review
Service was very good, no complaints, tech arrived on time, notified me 30 minutes prior to arrival, was very professional and congenial. But what they charge is insane. $235.00 for the first 30 minutes, $200.00 for every hour thereafter. ($50.00 per 15 minutes).I had a new motor installed in my electric fireplace, (and a couple of lightbulbs replaced). Cost me $958.65. I did ask the Installer how much the motor would be and he advised me around $450.Had of I been advised of the total amount BEFORE the installation, I would have nixed it because I could have bought a brand new fireplace for less than than the repair. I wasn't thinking clearly for sure, I did not think that labour for 90 minutes would come to $435.00, I take ownership of that.My son in law had the exact same replacement on his F/P 2 years ago and paid $485.00.My advice would be to shop around, I wish I had.
The job was done professionally, however, regarding the price, I believe they overcharged me at least $1,000. They replaced my old fireplace with Continental CX 36-1 and charged me $5,400 plus GST. After it had been installed, I checked with a dealer of Continental Fireplaces. They gave me a quote $4,000-4,400. Of course, I told the dealer that I currently had an old fireplace in my condo so in their quote, the job would include the removal of the old fireplace.
