I just wanted to write a letter of gratitude for all that Margaret Perez and the entire staff of Desert Mesa Group home. Joe has resided there coming up on 19 years this Oct. He had made for positive changes here and than any other home he has lived in. From being able to greatly reduce his psychotropic medications and stop his self abusive behaviors all together. As a professional in the field of disabilities I noticed past patterns of Joe's behaviors would rise after negative interactions either physically or verbally. I have been working at RISE for 9 years now in AZ with foster families and I love it! Supporting these families who do so much for the children in our community makes my life feel fulfilled and I have the best coworkers. Helping families get licensed for foster care is something that truly brings me joy!

I was a previous Director at the company, and I can say I know first hand that the upper management does care. It can be difficult to have that translated down to the field staff at times. Unfortunately as many other companies, there are labor shortage, which affects the overall retention and morale. There is always room for improvement, and that is in all aspects of a business, however I feel that a lot of the internal battles leadership faces, and the state funding of these services are not fully understood.
