Good afternoon, I just wanted to write a letter of gratitude for all that Margaret Perez and the entire staff of Desert Mesa Group home. Joe has resided there coming up on 19 years this Oct. He had made for positive changes here and than any other home he has lived in. From being able to greatly reduce his psychotropic medications and stop his self abusive behaviors all together. As a professional in the field of disabilities I noticed past patterns of Joe's behaviors would rise after negative interactions either physically or verbally. After being in Rise that greatly declined and is now fully eliminated behavior. One of the other things I love is that Joe eats better meals than I do to and maintains a healthy weight. He likes food I never knew he would eat like liver and onions! I love that even in hospice they try to still get him out and about on his good days. He has never been happier and healthier than living here at Rise Desert Mesa group home in Tucson AZ. I believe it was given him an overall better quality and quality of life. He is so positively supported and loved by all the staff. And it genuinely shows from them and him. As I have personally witnessed every staff on shift come and say hi to Joe when they first walk in the door on shift and he always greets them back with a hearty smile. Having been one of Joe's guardians his entire time here at Desert Mesa who sees him most often,I can honestly say that Desert Mesa is not staff they have become family. I can go on vacation and not worry as I know he is well taken care of. There is no greater peace than knowing you can trust caregivers. Thank you Maggie and staff for all your love and support over the years. And especially now as Joe ages and has greater difficulties depending on the day. Your kindness, patience, laughter and genuine love are making is final days sublime. Lastly I would also like to thank you for your support since Karl crossed over. Knowing that I can come anytime to see Joe and just hang out fills my heart with joy again. No words could ever fully truly express how I feel but I hope that this note helps convey my sentiments.
