This is an incredible outreach community of love, compassion, Non-judgement, support, and coping with grief. What makes Billy’s Place unique Is parents and children grieve together.. then separate into parent group and kids group with their peers The counselors leading each group are well versed, compassionate and knowledgeable about the grieving process. Each meeting has a planned curriculum and activity guiding you through the grief journey. My husband and I were able to share thoughts and struggles with other parents and those parents helped to shed a new perspective which was very helpful. My husband could relate to other husbands and therefore I learned what he was dealing with personally. Prior to these meetings he was taking care of me and not intimating what he was going through emotionally.. the men had a familiar bond which led to expressing the male side of emotions. This was great at unlocking the space we each guarded and now exposed, led to effective communication and healing of our parent hearts In so thankful to Billy’s Place for this healing. Our granddaughter,whom we are Now raising due to the death of our daughter, really enjoys and looks forward to going to Billy’s Place. After her time with peers, we are able to talk about what we each learned and what we will implement Moving forward to heal our hearts It opened communication and sharing of fears, hurts, confusion And emotions she wasn’t able to share before going to Billy’s Place We are all very thankful for Moose!!, The sweet Dog (mascot)too The counselors, volunteers, staff, and community events.. like Hike for Hope, are medicine for the soul.. in all ways!!! Since I've Started Billys place with my children I feel I'm home.my children have found comfort and are opening up a little more. This is a wonderful loving safe haven❤
