Westside BJJ is a welcoming gym with a fantastic culture. The facilities are clean, and the mats are well-maintained. The instructors, including Professor Penedo and Bruno, are super friendly and genuinely interested in their students. Everyone is encouraged to train hard and work together without egos. Visitors are made to feel at home, and the gym is a great place to meet new friends. The coaches really know their stuff and make learning fun and easy to follow. Our son loves the youth classes and has even competed, gaining confidence that helped him feel comfortable competing. The youth classes offer a good balance of hard work and fun, and the instruction is clear and thorough. If you’re in the Little Rock area, and you don’t stop by Westside BJJ you’re doing yourself a disservice. Bruno welcomed a visitor the second they walked through the door, and every student introduced themselves, making everyone feel right at home. The rounds are excellent, challenging without being overwhelming, and everyone does an amazing job at matching pace with a visitor on vacation. The gym is a great place to train, meet friends, and improve your skills.
I had the pleasure of training with this great group this week. They are very welcoming, down to earth, and bring a tough training mentality. If you are traveling through Little Rock, I highly recommend dropping in for a roll.
