Nail Cartel Hartselle( Q Nails) Nail Salons

“Jenny was so kind, very considerate of my nail health, and made sure I was happy. I was very happy with this nail salon as a whole. Will definitely be coming back. Not to mention how good the prices are. The care I got for my nails and how good they turned out, I was so shocked at how affordable her prices are. I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about finding a new nail salon.“

“I don't leave reviews often. I also don't like when people misrepresent themselves.

I was in the salon last month getting my nails done when I suddenly heard barking. Then more barking... I was concerned, but I'm extremely allergic with asthmatic reactions. I had my inhaler but not my Epipen, because who goes to a nail salon expecting dogs? 😅

Next thing I knew the owner was speaking to a woman about her dog, and it sounded like he was concerned about the dog seeming agitated by the noise. I heard a woman talking about it being a service dog and quickly getting frustrated at being questioned. The thing is service dogs are highly trained animals that often use barking as an alert, which means a barking seevice dog was warning that something was wrong.

That or it wasn't a service dog that had formal training at all and someone was about to create a situation where an agitated, already stressed and barking dog was about to be inches away from other customers, including potentially me. Just sitting next to me would have triggered my asthma, but if her dog had come in contact with me and set off a severe reaction I wouldn't have been able to even communicate the problem. As someone with disabilities and a friend that trains service dogs, claiming dogs are service animals for personal reasons causes real problems for people with disabilities and abused protections put in place that allow disabled people to function normally.

It's not about getting what you want but being allowed to function in settings that are otherwise a risk for you. Any animal obviously stressed by the commotion and constant high pitched noise in a nail salon shouldn't be there. It's a liability for everyone, including bystanders. I couldn't imagine how it was for that dog, knowing their ears and smell are so much stronger. It had to have been very uncomfortable for the dog, or he wouldn't have been getting more agitated and barking so much.

I've been to most of the nail salons in the area 1-2 times, and this is the only one I can consistently use. I have delicate skin and nails due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and I've had places almost rip off my natural nails trying to pry at the built up wanting to pop it off quickly. I've been burned, cut, ignored, etc.

The people at Mia's do a great job every time. I've seen 3-4 different techs. Lily is my personal favorite, because she is very gentle and that's a necessity for me. Even when they do everything right, my skin easily breaks and I am immunocompromised, so every trip is an infection risk and is followed by a set protocol to prevent this.

This is literally the only nail salon I can go to and not watch them like a hawk trying to prevent damage of some kind. I actually get to be a normal person, relax, get my nails done, and feel like everyone else. I can't express what that is worth to a person when most places are not made for people like me and most people have never even known someone like me, let alone understand what needs to be different to help me be safe.“
