Hiring this company (this one man, Michael Strength) was a mistake. We thought hiring a local contractor, a local person, well versed in the codes in this area, would be a good investment….he will RIP YOU OFF! We couldn’t even fire him when we knew we were being screwed because he made sure that our house was in such a state that no other contractor would even look at it. He is using the fact that he is a Fairhope native and knows the laws/codes/subcontractors to laugh all the way to the bank. DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THIS GUY (or his Mickey Mouse company.) Our experience with 5A Remodeling (2021-2022) was a complete disaster. It was a big project since the house was completely gutted down to the studs. By the time we fired 5A, we were way over budget and way behind schedule. To make matters worse, a lot of the work was poorly done, and we are incurring significant costs fixing the mistakes (like no flashing on doors and window to prevent water damage). In particular, there was no excuse for falling way behind schedule. Nobody was ever on the job site - including the GC. As for cost overruns, until the day we die, we are mystified on where the money went. His accounting was atrocious. We had to beg for weeks for vendor invoices.... read full review
