My experience was very good. The dental hygienist was very sweet. She did a thorough job cleaning and polishing my teeth. She took extra care to make sure that I was comfortable throughout the whole process. The dentist was nice and pleasant. She double checked problem spots I've had in the past and reassured me that everything looked good.

I Always get the best service from Luma Dentistry. I love the preappointment reminders and providers being prompt, professional, knowledgeable and kind. I feel they go a step further in making me feel comfortable and informed. Thanks for all you do at Luma!! I am forever your client.

I had not visited a dentist in a very long time so I was super nervous when I ended up with a really bad toothache, I was beyond miserable. I found Luma for a same day appointment today and I had such a great experience. The staff is super sweet and they talk you through everything, especially the best options for you finically, they explained everything that I would be charged for based on which route I would take for care. I was worried about ending up in a clinic with hidden charges but that was the opposite case here. They explained each and every charge and even saved me a lot of money.I had major anxiety about going but once I was there, it was a breeze and I calmed...read full review

From Luma Dentistry - McCalla

Birmingham brothers Drs. Ted and John Poczatek, both graduates of UAB School of Dentistry, open their first dental practice in 2005. Their vision was to create a practice that would benefit the community and the patients. The brothers were joined in 2007 by Dr. Holt Gray, a good friend and a specialist in dental restoration procedures (prosthodontist), and a Resident Professor at UAB School of Dentistry. The practice grew again in 2009 with the addition of Dr. John’s wife, Dr. Wendy, who is also a UAB School of Dentistry graduate. In 2018, the team combined their three locations, McCalla Dental, Cahaba Dental and Southlake Dental to form Luma Dentistry. Today, the practice continues to grow and now includes over a dozen doctors.
