While budgeting and planning for this project I had contacted 5 tree removal services. Being Black, and wanting to support small business, I had asked a Black owner to give estimate first. He gave an appointment for the following week. Three other tree removal services never responded. Arriving at the work site a few minutes before a scheduled appointment I was delighted to see that Gray’s Tree Service was already there and was assessing the work I had described by phone. The 2 associates were cordial, focused and attentive. This brief meet ended with their promised estimate by e-mail, this same day, which I received. The job involved downing 3 trees which had been planted at the property line and now stood over the neighbor’s house. Down one very old and very BIG tree next to my home. Down one medium sized tree which had grown in a wrong place. Cut up and remove three BIG trees which had previously been felled. On appointment day with the small business owner I had already received Gray’s Tree Services’ estimate via e-mail as promised, but had not hired them. You tell me who I hired: Small business tree cutter’s estimate: $17,000.00 Gray’s Tree Services’ estimate: $ 5,600.00
