We did the 26 Glacier Cruise - a tour offered by Phillips Cruises. I highly recommend this iconic-Alaska activity. The boat was very stable! For fun, I counted glaciers and came up with 35. So at the very least I can say we weren't short-changed. We saw birds, sea otters, and humpback whales. There was a park ranger onboard who added a lot via his commentary. Did you know that glaciers move about a foot a day? I didn't! I'm known for having an iron stomach, but the chowder got me; fortunately the bathroom was clean!
Two days before they closed for the season I went on the 26 Glacier Tour and I loved every minute. As it was late in the year the majority of the boat was empty which allowed us to ditch our little table downstairs and take a much larger table upstairs. It was so worth it and the crew didn't mind as the entire upper deck was vacant. The cruise tour was delightful. It was beautiful and depressing. Once the crew point out the signs of where the glaciers used to be even recently to where they are now it's unsettling and impossible not to see. Yet they should be seen while they are still viewable from cruises like this as they are truly awesome. The ride was smooth and the information interesting. We saw otters and sea lions - most other animals were out of sight unsurprising considering the time of year. The glacier margarita was a novelty and not very tasty - it was very sweet. Yet, I wasn't expecting anything stunning either. The lunch, though, was really tasty. I had the salmon chowder and it was delicious! I walked away with hundreds of photos. Be prepared to bring a good camera! It was an excellent tour.
A fun, long boat ride through the Prince William Sound. There were several stops at different glaciers where some were calving. The meal was decent and they offered mixed beverages for sale. They collected a sample of the iceberg from the water and served punch over the ice. There were three decks on the boat and many places to go outside.
