“My son has been here for 3 months now, and he seems to be doing really well. The instructors are all very kind and knowledgeable about karate, and they are patient with all age levels and learning levels. I am excited to see how the next few months will be and how my son's techniques will evolve.Pros: Intructors care, are knowledgeable, family oriented.Cons: parking up on top (there is a lower lot parking with plenty of room). Transition between classes is slim to none, so dojo gets crowded.“
“I’ve been in karate since I was 4 years old. I’ve learned many self defense mechanisms and have fun doing it. Sifu is a great instructor. He is patient, and willing to learn from others.“
“I really can't explain what the San Diego Fight Club has done for my family and myself. Charlie Kohler has really provided an environment to grow mentally and physically. The coaching staff is top notch! From Brandon Magana(Old Guard) to Nick Oliver(New Guard) and everybody in between, the coaching has always been enjoyable! Five of the six members of my family has trained on that mat including multiple siblings and cousins. I recommend jiu jitsu to everybody, especially San Diego Fight Club Jiu Jitsu!“
“I'm sure you are here because you can't figure out what type of martial arts to put your kid in... or you're trying to find a good Taekwondo spot. Well you're in luck because you found a great spot to fulfill both of these desires. Impact Martial Arts is a very well rounded program. My son is in the Tigers 3-6 year old class The class starts with a warm-up and talk about the word of the day (whether it's discipline, respect ,etc.)Then they work on form and technique and work on different types of strikes with their hands and feet. Then the last half of class they focus on weapon training. They typically have two 30 minutes classes per week. They offer classes every day including Saturday. Our son has been doing it for 3 months now and loves it. It's really helped hmm him with his confidence and learning to speak up and speak louder. So far I'm very happy with this place. We are glad we chose Taekwondo because it incorporates hand strikes , kicking and weapons and seems well rounded. It definitely keeps his interest and attention and that's what we were looking for. Our son has been going here for a few months now and it's been great.I would definitely recommend this place“
“Our Experience has been one of Respect and Welcoming! I wish I could give them (HoD) 10 stars.1st- In the past We tried to enroll our kid in swimming lessons, we made it clear about his special need, and ended up dropping them, because they would berate my child and made us feel unwelcome.2nd- we tired gymnastics at the YMCA , and the instructor would get flustered and would act exasperated towards our child. In my opinion she did not have the patience, character, experience and or presence of mind to engage or deal with little kids.(3 to 5 y/olds) and finally3rd- we are currently here at the House of Discipline. I can honestly say that we could not have made a better choice. We came for a trial class and immediately my son could feel the vibe and the energy. He loves it, we love it. Let me point out that we didn't even mention about his special need, but they completely embraced him for whom he is. They engage him, respect him, redirect him and guide him as needed. Let me just say that my son can be stubborn when it comes to his attention span. He tends to focus or disengage very much at a whim. he follows his own pace. There has been many moments where we keep thinking "this is it, they're gonna hate us, they're gonna be done with us, they're gonna tell us he can't come to class" but each and every one of those moments I'm proved wrong, by their generous empathic patient approach. They are teaching him to control his body and to focus his mind. I highly recommend HOD to any parent that is looking for a fun wholesome and consistent activity for their kids. Very well worth it. You'll immediately see positive changes in your mini me. Thanks to every one at HOD, especially Miss Evelyn, and Miss Star!“
“Amazing facility and top notch instruction! Professor Julio is extremely knowledgeable and one of San Diego’s best black belts! Professor Julio also is an amazing kids instructor boasting one of the best kids programs in east county.“
“Great teachers all around, had a great time. Offers great training and sometimes birthday events!“
“I love training under Sifu Jeramiah and learning his system. He’s learned from some of the best martial art legends, and it shows. He’s extremely knowledgeable in realistic street self defense and weapons tactics, and explains the science and history behind his teachings. These classes are awesome, I absolutely recommended checking it out“
“Master Brown runs a tight ship, but extends kindness and levity for all. His teachings build confidence, coordination and skillful abilities to his charges of all sizes and levels. You won't be disappointed.“
“Great coaching staff! Friendly and clean gym! Coaches are very approachable and make the learning environment fun for beginners.“
“Sam is a great teacher! My son has really enjoyed his tkd classes here. He has felt well supported, learned to defend himself and has developed more self-confidence.“
“We have seen our son grow from being shy and unfocussed to confident and disciplined through kickforce and he’s only 5. In addition to martial arts and self defense, the life skills and affirmations taught are invaluable. Highly recommend to at least give it a try!“
“LOVE this establishment, highly recommend!PROs: Hands down the best choice for martial arts for kids in the area. Master Kenny and his colleagues are true professionals. They have the knowledge and attitude to keep kids attention non-stop while instilling the tenants of Tang Soo Do. My kid loves going to class and it's quite a show to watch. No matter the skill level, they give every child the same amount of attention, discipline, and respect. The very flexible class schedule is also supportive of family schedules. Looking forward to staying here for years to come!CONs: Parking is tough but otherwise this place rocks!“
“San Diego Aikikai has been the institution to represent traditional Japanese style teaching of Aikido in San Diego. Aikido is a martial art and as such has a martial approach in it's philosophy, but one of the tenets is to seek ways to avoid conflict. This dojo and the instructors associated with it represent that philosophy as passed down from our principal instructors.“
“I cannot say enough about Master Moon and Mr. Danny. They are amazing instructors and seem to know just how far to push their students. I love the combination of seriousness and silliness. I'm excited to see my kids progress in their skills without the all too common burnout.“
“Absolutely the best!! Incredibly passionate about their work with both children and adults, the team here is phenomenal. The give a discount for being a "founding member" so hopefully you didn't miss the chance. If you have a kid (or you yourself) want more self-defense, respect, compassion and discipline in your life - check out White Dragons. The founder, Basil "The White Dragon" Master has not only extensively studied over 10 martial arts styles, he has also tried and tested his experience in competition, fighting in the ring, cage, and the octagon, and in combat through his work in executive protection. The vibe is so positive and powerful. It can change your life.“
“This place is great, my son has been going here for years, it was world tkd before the change of ownership. With Mac tkd coming in and new ownership under Grand master Yoon, it is being taken to the next level. Bringing in competition and sparring is awesome, excited for my son to compete. He expects a lot out of the kids, it's how it should be. Earning rank takes discipline and doesn't come for free. Kids are taught to work hard, show respect and appreciate the art.“
“I thought about it and I am coming back to family karate please contact Evette morneau“
“After many years of internal training, in my experience, William (Bill/Sensei) Stegner has proven to be a superior Sensei and has taught me the art of learning IN GENERAL, regardless of your ideology, or religion/beliefs, or level of intellect and or capacity, he is honest about who he is and what his goals are, and ALWAYS cares for each and every one of his students. I have gone through many planes, which you may or may not reach in your martial arts journey, but I promise you, if your intentions are good, Bill will show you how to get where you are trying to go in the way that will endure. You will get out of this what you put in to it. He has studied many and most arts, especially weapons like spear. He's an officer-level cyberspace defense engineer that has meticulously broken down and interpreted many scripts from Japanese history and presents a succinct art that is legit AF. He will show you the deeper foundation of combat arts regarding body weight shifting, pain compliance, striking, and rolling in any direction! (you will be a human ball and feel nothing and make no sound if you are willing to put in the work, which is surprisingly useful haha. Thanks Bill, I will never forget your teachings!)“
“I've tried many martial arts studios across San Diego and this place offered the best variety of styles and techniques. The staff is very kind and down to Earth and genuinely care about their students. Great for all ages and body types.“
“We have been here for almost 2 years now. We came from another jiujitsu where I feel like my daughter wasn't learning and growing. When we came here we felt instantly welcomed. They have more than enough trainers to watch and make sure the kids are doing the movements correctly, and safely. They focus on teaching the kids and making sure they understand the movements before they use them on each other. My kiddo loves coach Jeremy and his wife. She asks to come to practice everyday because she is so determined to grow and advance! She will do amazing things here and we're excited to watch her grow!“
