Mason, the largest city in Warren County, has been dubbed “Ohio’s Largest Playground.” It is also home to one of Jack Nicklaus’ first golf course designs, The Grizzly.Nicklaus collaborated with architects Jay Moorish and Desmond Muirhead to build the course in 1972 as well as a 4-hole practice facility, aptly named “The Academy.” The Grizzly name is a natural fit, tying in directly with Nicklaus’ moniker, “The Golden Bear.”As you make your way around the championship golf course, you can see the influence that Desmond Muirhead had on the layout. The course is no longer under real construction for drainage and it's in excellent shape. Highly recommend this course. The people who run and maintain this course clearly put a lot of effort into making it top notch.Played here on Father's Day 2022. Originally left a 2 star review based on the state of construction it was under and the $10 booking fee to reserve a tee time. Revising to a 5 based on my last experience and assistance from the general manager.

The staff is working hard to make this a great place. We had a mix up the first time with the waitress not knowing the special and we were charged full price. Not a huge deal but I later asked for clarification on the special for next time. The manager was so nice and took care of us the next time. Food and drinks were great both times!

Welcome to The Grizzly Golf and Social Lodge, the City of Mason's finest public golf and social experience. Originally designed by Jack Nicklaus, Desmond Muirhead, and Jay Moorish, the 18-hole championship course is a par 71 and plays a maximum of 6,474 yards. Founded in 1972, The Grizzly has hosted many of the major professional tours in the United States, including the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour Championship, Kroger Senior Classic - Senior PGA Tour, and LPGA Futures Tour. The golf complex also features a 4-hole Academy Course, driving range, 11,000 sq ft. practice green, award-winning ProShop, The Great 18 Bar & Grill, The Lodge, and two all weather event shelters.
