A few weeks ago I delivered our baby at the OBC and got to experience the most wonderful birth I could have ever imagined. I didn’t have a great birth experience with my first child who was born at the hospital, so I wanted to try a different approach. And the OBC definitely did not disappoint! Everyone there was so supportive of my birth plan. Lisa, from Avalon midwives was great! So was nurse Penny. I delivered in room 2 in the tub, Penny helped us set up the room in a way so I felt even more comfortable. For the birth of our first child, my husband and I decided that we felt most comfortable at the hospital and because of minor complications, it was the right decision. Despite being the most beautiful water birth, I knew for our next baby I wanted to deliver in a different environment. Knowing more about birth and labor, I had more confidence in my body and my mind this time around and we knew we wanted to go to the birthing center. The morning I went into labor, my midwife advised me to head towards the birthing center since we live just under an hour away.
