I am thankful every single day since then that I discovered Aikido. More than that I am thankful that I landed at this dojo. Aikido can seem daunting in the beginning, it is physically challenging and the techniques may not seem as straight forward as other martial arts popular in America. That is one reason people place a lot of emphasis on the community here. Everyone at this dojo wants to see you succeed no matter your age, gender, body type, level of athleticism or anything else. At the end of the day Aikido is you vs. yourself. Everyone at this dojo recognizes that they have had challenges to overcome in their training. In turn we respect the challenges other beginners will be faced with. All anyone needs to start training here is the willingness to show respect to the art, the dojo and their peers.Sensei Perna's dedication to Aikido is inspiring. He leads by example and teaches without ego. In some circles Aikido has a reputation for being performative, more art than martial. But here Sensei Perna and all the other instructors make certain that the martial art you are learning will have practical application in today's world if it were ever necessary. To that end some of the techniques have been modified over the years to fit scenarios that are more likely to occur in our time. When O Sensei developed Aikido over a 100 years ago it was an innovation at the time. I think he would be happy to see continued innovation so that Aikido can remain relevant as a martial art in today's world.“

My teenager has been there for 3 years and he's a quiet kid but he loves sharing his new moves with me and his grandparents and it helps us engage with him at this age. It has built his confidence at school and walking around the city. Sensei is a great role model, professional and family focused. I highly recommend Karate Kickers with no question.“

109 Allison Rd, Oreland“10/10 for my family. We first met the owner at a local block party. They donate their time quite regularly in the community. We started off with two weeks of free classes and that turned into my kids attending once a week. I cannot think the action karate family enough for welcoming us. I have a set of twins and we had tried two other activities and my kids had no real interest. Once we tried karate they seem to love it. I look forward to the future with action karate. My kids are learning very important the values as well as self-defense. I couldn't be happier. Lastly we recently had a birthday party hosted by action karate. That was very cool they were board breaking, a samurai sword cake cutting plus games. I'm so happy we decided to continue classes here“

They are a family run dojo and did an amazing job of acclimating our student and allowed him to utilize the belt level he was currently at to start. We love that all of their katas are taught in practical terms of self defense. They also discuss value lessons weekly, where they go over characteristics of leadership, gratitude, goal setting, (we especially love that students are required to set goals so they can see progress). After a year here, our son is also now learning how to become a sensi (teach).I cannot thank them enough for how they are helping him to grow as a person and how welcome we always feel. They feel like part of our family.“

1760 Barbara St, Philadelphia“I started training with Philadelphia JiuJitsu this past summer and it has been a great experience so far. Damon is extremely knowledgeable with over 30 years experience and has a great passion for teaching. What is unique about Philadelphia JiuJitsu is that it is more than a jiujitsu school as it incorporates many different martial arts. There is judo, wrestling, aikido, knife and stick fighting, and practical self-defense techniques. So you can come to a class that focuses on what you are interested in. The price is fair, the instructors are knowledgeable and whole gym is welcoming so if you are looking into learning martial arts and self defense Philadelphia jiujitsu is worth a visit“
