Immediately I will say after 1 consultation with Ronald Petroff, I was so much more confident in my position as a defendant in my custody case. I was impressed by how his team worked together to help save money and time for me. I am a shift lead at restaurant and my income verries so I was so worried. This review is in response to Anthony's review and Erika Smitherman's response. Let me first state that being fiscally conservative does not equate to over $45,000 being charged to us with no resolution. Ms. Smitherman was never proactive in this case. She allowed opposing counsel to dictate the process. We originally approached this law firm to obtain legal counsel on how to proceed for custody of the minor child. She was hired to make it happen and it still took over two months for the father to see the child. The entire team treated us with disdain. The multiple emails were only necessary because most of the time we never received a response but were charged to read every one. Direct questions were routinely ignored. It got to the point where we were forced to record conversations because of the misinformation given. There is a recording of Ms. Smitherman directing me to have Anthony sign a document that was grossly incorrect which would have put him in a worse financial situation. The reason it has taken so long to leave a review is because it was such a betrayal of trust. We are just now healing from this trauma.

Erika Smitherman is unethical and immoral. When I hired my SECOND divorce attorney, they looked through my files and found that this practice LIED about even filing basic discovery!! My new attorney told me that most of what Erika told me was a lie. My new attorney told me it is NOT common practice to force your client to sign documents they don't agree with.She would ignore my calls and emails for MONTHS and then act like I was out of line for expecting a reply in a timely manner.Erika Smitherman should be disbarred!Response to Erika's excuses:Don't pretend you care about saving clients money. You can buy a new Lexus with what my case cost. You nickel and dimed me all day long, but couldn't file discovery? We found so many things to help my case when discovery was filed by the competent attorney I hired next. You chose not to do your best.You ignored my emails for MONTHS at a time, questions unanswered. Duplicate emails were sent becuase you flat out ignored previous emails asking for help. There were three people on each email chain because I had to CC your co-workers just to get any sort of response from your company. I only got the results I was promised because I chose an attorney that fought for me without forcing me to sign everything you shoved in front of me. You were abusive towards my family and me. If I had stuck with you I would be homeless and childless.

I've heard it said that "you don't always need an umbrella, but when it pours, you had better hope you have a good one". If that adage is true, then Sandra Goolsby (of Ron Petroff Law Offices, LLC) would be an umbrella-an umbrella made of kevlar. Sandra went out of her way, from our first phone conversation, to our last email, to make sure that she had taken the time to answer every inquiry, listen to every anxious whine, and just all around protect my interests through one of the most stressful and scary transitions of my life (divorce). She was available and replied to my calls and emails at absurd hours (I hope they pay you overtime Sandra), and never once made me feel excessive for my reactions to each new hurdle of the process. I would have hugged her after the divorce proceedings in the courtroom, if I hadn't been concerned with mussing up her fabulously chosen professional outfit (well played Sandra). I would wish that noone has to go through the emotional and fiscal storm of a divorce or custody case, and hope to never need the services of Sandra or Ron Petroff (also a GREAT attorney) again. But if I (or you) do- pick the kevlar umbrella. Worth. Every. Penny.

Bad communication from the start to finish and have destroyed me financially while going through something that is already the worse financial hardship I have ever been in. All this while demanding payments with one day notice as if to get me to cancel their service so they wouldn’t have to deal with my heartache and while making me feel like they didn’t believe me at all. I don’t know it was the fact I had a young attorney, which I won’t name, or if it was bad estimating skills and getting heat from the senior lawyers, they have caused damaged that can’t be undone by creating and following a narrative that may cause my inevitable demise. I don’t think there was a shortage of ability in the firm I think there was just not enough money for me to take on the case to even be able to explain everything and the firms agenda being long drawn out money in cases, did not fit with the finances I had available. This has caused damage to my mental that Kyle cause me to loose my son. I appreciate the work mr petroff had done for my best friend that died and the grandmother was attempting to take him and I’m told he was achieve the desired new jnykjbw
