This place used to be my favorite place to get massages at. I have been going here since high school, which was over 6 years ago. I loved this place; it made me feel calm, relaxed, and happy. After today's experience, I'm sad to say that I will not be going back again. As a woman, I am way more comfortable with a fellow woman massaging me, however, I was given a male masseuse, which is fine and not that big of a deal. The man was sick. He was wearing a mask, thankfully, but he coughed multiple times while massaging me and made either burping or gagging sounds after coughing. I felt really uncomfortable and wasn't enjoying the experience anymore. At a point, he was going to remove the pillow from under me but my necklace got stuck on the fabric, and I told him, "one moment" for him to give me a second to fix it to prevent my necklace from getting ripped off. He might've not understood my message and after I said "one moment," he snatched the pillow from under me while my necklace was stuck. Thaaaankfully, my necklace didn't break, though I was really worried that it might have been. The massage was subpar. At the end, he walked me to the cashier stand and told me I had to tip him 20% for whatever the price was of my service. I got bothered by hearing that, due to the concept of tipping (out of gratuity and not mandatory). I would have tipped him 20% if none of the negative things had happened, but I was leaving there uncomfortable and not as happy as I should have been. I was about to not give him a tip, but mostly out of feeling bad, I tipped him on venmo 10%. I was about to leave the premises right after, but he tried to say something to me that I didn't understand, so the cashier girl told me he had to take a picture of the transaction to show his manager. I had a feeling that he just wanted to look at the transaction and make sure I had tipped him 20/20+% gratuity. I showed him the transaction receipt. He put his head so far into my phone that he must have been 4 inches away from it to see how much. When he saw that it was 10% tip, he started reacting so upsetting and disappointingly and almost like getting mad at me and kept trying to tell me that I was / I am supposed to tip him 20%. He kept reacting and not taking the picture, so I told them I had to go, and walked out of the store. He followed me, saying "lady, lady, lady!! Picture, picture!!!" I was like okayy, i hope he takes a picture now so I can leave. I went back and showed him my phone again so he could take a picture, but he kept saying the same things and reacting disappointingly. I asked him twice if he was going to take a picture, because I'm not there to stand around listening to him, I had to go! He said yes and very quickly he made it seem like he was gonna take a picture, but I don't even know if he did. He kept talking the same way, and I told him he coughed a lot during our session and then I walked out of the store because I couldn't deal with his behavior anymore. So disappointing, discomforting and annoying.

Decent spot, clean, hygienic, friendly. Good set of masseurs and masseuses. Fairly priced. I like a deep tissue sports type massage. You can ask them to apply more pressure. You definitely come out more relaxed and loose.

This is a very difficult review to write, but after much consideration and giving the incident some space, I have come to the conclusion it is the right thing to do.

Approximately one week ago, my wife visited Cha Spa on Montana in Santa Monica for a massage after a long day at work. She had been there multiple times before and had actually had the same masseuse I will be referring to (Tom) a few times over the last six months.

He is an older male and came highly recommended by the spa management.

During this massage, he became extremely inappropriate. He didn’t give the normal massage she had received multiple times before but my wife didn’t think too much about it. But then after a while he started to inappropriately touch her and then started to massage her nipples, which she put a stop to. This obviously stunned her and caused her to freeze up in disbelief wondering if she had done something wrong! Shortly after, he worked on her legs and then his hands moved up between her thighs and touched her privates. Again, she was stunned and froze for a moment, but then firmly instructed him to stop and just massage her shoulders. All along the way, he apologized in an “oh so sorry” manner.

My wife is a beautiful, highly intelligent, extremely gentle and compassionate woman, and amazingly well-balanced on all fronts. She started to wonder what she had done but then realized this was nothing to do with her. She paid quickly and left. When she came home, she calmly worked through the incident and realized this is not for her to carry and felt it important to report the incident to the Cha Spa owners. She did this by ringing the spa aproximately an hour after she got home and spoke to the owner’s daughter-in-law, who was on the front desk and remembered her. To her credit, the young girl listened with compassion and surprise and promised she would pass this on to the owner. She also offered my wife a full refund, which my wife declined, as she said, “speaking up was not about the money.” My wifes phone call was about bringing this incident to the owner’s attention as it was extremely dangerous and highly inappropriate behavior by one of their employees.

We haven’t heard anything back from Cha Spa reassuring that appropriate action had been taken. Obviously, this is her word against his, but I felt it was important to do my duty and share this warning because if it happened to a more vulnerable, less secure person, it has the potential to cause severe emotional damage. Luckily, my wife is strong and super well-balanced. My wife will obviously never go back, and I hope this serves as a suitable warning for others. Ladies if you decide to go there, request a female massage therapist. Obviously the lowest star i can give is one star otherwise it would have been zero.

Went in for a massage yesterday for my birthday. Since I had just gone to CHA in Brentwood, I thought Santa Monica would be as nice. It was really dingy and dirty feeling. I felt like the therapists didn't wash their hands. They talk to one another and leave the area quite a few times during the massage. I ended up with a rash on my chest from whatever I was laying on I couldn't wait to get home and shower and wash my clothes. It was really really dirty. we paid for two massages. I don't think I'll ever go back there again. They need a thorough cleaning gross.

Sexually molested !!!! I went for a massage by a male massage therapist. He touched in inappropriately three times. He grabbed my genital area, and I pushed him away, and he did it three more times. He didn't seem to speak English. I don't know if he thought I wanted to be touched that way. I was distraught, and for a few weeks, I couldn't get it out of my mind. I felt molested. I contacted the owner, and she said he had worked there for many years and no one else had ever complained. I can't imagine that could be the case. I told her I wanted to come in to talk to him about what a terrible thing he had done to me. If you are a woman, do NOT go there for a massage.

No base coat. No top coat. And two layers of polish, one of which didn't cover my entire nail. She painted polish (intentionally?) on to my skin and then cleaned it up with her finger nail, which was quite discolored and appeared to have a fungal infection. Tech was in a huge rush and didn't do an adequate job and has me fearing an infection. Yikes.

walked in for a polish change...had to ask the technician to go back and file 2 top splitting nails to be filed and when I asked for quick dry top coat she said they don't offer quick dry, only regular...I was visiting from out of state and can't say I'm up on the California status quo regarding nail services but have never had a polish change without a light filing and no quick dry topcoat? really?
