Dr. Commins came over on Saturday to assess my inter-vat aggression issues. It was a great meeting, and I am filled with hope that my 2 cats can eventually have a truce, if not a friendship. She gave so many suggestions, and was really easy to talk to.I highly recommend her if you are having any behavioral pet issues.

I wanted to wait until we were a bit into the treatment plan and could give a fair review because quite honestly getting a Pet Behavior Consultant can be costly and it is a process. I'm happy to say we are over the moon with Dr. Commins' services and support that we have received. Short background: We adopted a rescue who had some minor leash reactivity but it soon evolved to fear based anxiety and aggression that popped up out of nowhere. While we did classes and training we knew we needed help beyond it and were overwhelmed by all the different advice we were getting trainers, different types of training styles, collars, harnesses. It was overwhelming and obviously for different dogs and different backgrounds (we knew he came from a potentially super sad and hurtful past) that some styles and avenues could do more harm than good long term. It was after researching various ASPCA and training journals (it was a full time job for a solid week) that it seemed that getting a Veterinary Behavior Consultant or Behaviorist who could be most helpful in putting us down the right path to success and we found Dr. Commins through the suggestion of a trainer based on the issues we were describing. Dr. Commins' background and qualifications are exactly what you want for any pet who's behavior you need decoding. She is compassionate, reassuring, caring and beyond easy to talk to. She came to our house to do a full evaluation and we were immediately at ease with her disposition and excellent approach to the task at hand. We received a full diagnosis and treatment plan and have been loving the support we've had from her as we make adjustments in our lives to assist in making the world a less scary place for our dog. This is a huge commitment and there's no fast fix to anything but if you're committed to the work of great long term mental emotional health for your pet, Dr. Commins makes it easy, informative and manageable for you. I'd recommend this for any new pet owner of a rescue who needs finding the proper rehabilitation plan for behavior that needs adjusting.

We asked Dr. Commins to visit with our dogs, which are littermates. We have been very impressed. Dr. Commins' has shown both a tremendous amount of knowledge and a lot of sensitivity, resulting in a personalized plan for each of our dogs. We couldn't help but notice that the empathy Dr. Commins showed towards our more troubled dog is the kind of empathy we could use for humans as well. She seems to be not only a very good doctor but also a very good person. We are starting the plan she prescribed and seeing good early results.
