“Social Salon has the most welcoming energy ever. I love the salon. The staff is SO nice. The girlie who does my hair is Arlene. Arlene always slays my hair! I’ve been going to her for almost 10 years now! She was the only one to be able to get me blonde without damaging my hair back in 2015! She always listens to what I want to do with my hair and assures me every step of the way. She even does extensions and they look so natural I have a hard time distinguishing what is my real hair vs the weft! “I have been going to Josie for my hair cut, perm, and care for the past 3 years. She is very knowledgeable on hair texture and properties, and knows how to keep your hair looking great while keeping it healthy. She also has a keen eye of what type of hair cut and styling fits your face and personality. She takes her time during perm and cut, and takes extra steps to protect hair during perming. Her rate is in par with commercial hair salons but the quality of service and end result is much superior. I hope the Covid can pass soon so we can visit Josie soon.“

I found her through a referral from a woman who passed me on the sidewalk on California Ave; she had curly hair and the perfect haircut, so I stopped her and asked where she goes....at that time (2007 or so), Claudia was at Aveda, and when that shop closed she moved over to Jonathan David. Saye has been braiding my hair for 3 years, and she does fantastic work. She's communicative and works with you to figure out the right style for your hair. I'm always thrilled with how great my hair looks after she's done and braids stay looking perfect all week! If you're going in the last few weeks of August, make sure to call in advance since she gets completely booked out!“

“Star is brilliant with color. I’ve lived in Menlo Park for over 3 years, been to many salons trying to find the perfect colorist for blonde hair. I finally found Star! She listened to exactly what I wanted. She gave me the light ash blonde the others couldn’t. She treated my hair like her canvas and took great care to ensure it stayed healthy. “WOW I literally owe Debbie my life!! I came in with a haircut from hell I got that morning from a different salon and Debbie was so kind to squeeze me in last minute to fix it. She clearly knew what she was doing and was extremely assuring. She explained her plan to me very clearly and she is a genius! My previous haircut had tons of holes and uneven choppy layers and Debbie recognized that by changing my part she could cover some of the holes and cut it to even it out perfectly! “Nancy is really great, she’s the only one I trust to cut my hair after having a bad experience elsewhere (I have long hair fyi). She’s meticulous and makes sure the length and layers are even, even when it’s very busy. Prices are so low and I hope they stay in business a long time so I can come back. (She’s very busy since she manages everything herself with no front desk receptionist, which is probably why prices can be so low, so if you are understanding and patient about that, it’s so worth it and the best place I recommend)“
