Very nice selection of frames and very friendly staff. Most of their locations are in Canada but they're opening a second shop on Melrose. A complete one stop shop with in-house optician. Would definitely return as I add more frames to my collection

As Silver Lake reinvents itself, or rather is forcibly reinvented by massive offshore investment and development, corporate chain stores, and property owners evicting small business to bring in higher rents, one of the most important things that is being lost in the shuffle... is kindness. That low key feeling of human connection that is the lifeblood of small business, but is often lost when you're dealing with hourly employees.I first checked out Durant Sessions with a friend and was moved by their selection. Of special note are the brand Eyevan, whose Japanese designs remind me of something Sato from Black Rain would wear, precise titanium but elegant and warm, and some incredible NOS Oliver Peoples pieces.I haven't bought anything from Durant, yet. And this is where the kindness comes in.The first time I came in, my friend and I were talking to Johnny, the owner, who is a warm, welcoming and knowledgeable dude, when I realized that my vintage French helicopter pilot glasses were about to fall apart and that I needed a pro to screw them back together. Johnny did this on the spot, no charge, and even cleaned them up better than I'll ever be able to.So yesterday, when I found myself in a situation of needing lenses moved from a cracked pair of frames to a new one, I called another local optometrist, who needed to ask if that was something they could do, told me I'd need to sign a waiver, and was going to call me back. (Still waiting on that call._Then I remembered Durant. I rang Johnny, and not only was he available to do it that afternoon -- he'd again do it free of charge. The whole endeavor took about 8 minutes and now I can see again. Thank you, Johnny. So now I'm a dedicated customer. And it isn't about money. It's a bigger picture relationship.I got some time to dive into the selection, which is really awesome. Lots of range and really elevated styles, and a comfortable, warm environment.One interesting thing we talked about is adding a custom flip-up sunglass piece (like a clip-on) to a frame, which is really intriguing. Will explore this when I return.May kindness once again rule, and may more people discover Durant Sessions and Johnny.

This is such an amazing store. Johnny is incredibly knowledgable and this place has so many beautiful and truly unique frames. Like other commenters, I used to dread shopping for eyewear, but now I look forward to it every time! You can't miss this place if you're an eyewear lover in Los Angeles.
