a) Kelly no longer works here. If anyone knows where she moved, please post? (I was out of town for awhile, so missed when she would have told her customers. I suspect false, the owner's answer that Kelly quit to take care of her new baby. But congratulations to Kelly, if she's pregnant. More likely she moved to another hair salon, or opened her own.) b) Today, I made an appointment for whomever available. Unfortunately, when I arrived a few minutes early, another customer was already waiting. Normally I'd just excuse a (schedule) mistake...especially as I've been a monthly customer since 2016; always had a great job done, for which I always gave Kelly a 50% tip. But, this being the first time coming, after learning she no longer worked there, I was already deciding if I should still go there, or look around. And, oddly they didn't even apologize for their schedule mistake. It was only when I had almost reached the door to leave, when they said sorry, can you please wait? So, I went across the street to another barbershop, and gladly waited for the next available person. I'm bummed after 6+ years, to have lost Kelly. (In hindsight, I should have posted a review for her, years ago.)

My first time trying this barbershop. I tried the one across the street before, didn't really like it. I was hesitant in visiting this one because of prior reviews, but I figured the stylists have had years to practice since. I came a few minutes early on a Saturday, the owner arrives a few minutes early to set up shop. A punctual barber is a good sign. I had to wait a bit because an appointment was made; maybe next time I'll call a day or two ahead. A guy came in a few minutes after me, asking for Kelly for a haircut. Found out she doesn't work here anymore due to marital bliss. This place is on one of the main streets of Alameda, I parked about 10 blocks away but I enjoy the walk. The street is usually crowded on Saturday with farmers' market and people coming out for breakfast/brunch. Street parking was packed! My barber was Jennie, she arrived a few minutes after the shop opened. She's possibly the most gentle with attention-to-detail barber I've ever met in my entire life! She took her time to cut my hair using a multitude of tools, which is a rare quality to have. After 3 years of searching in Oakland/Alameda, I finally found a barber who understood what "zero on the side, eight on top" means! She also asked for the length of the front of my hair 2-3 times as she was cutting, which was a huge plus. She's simply perfect for the type of haircut I look for (since my previous barber retired). So yea, I might be coming here again.

I've been taking my son there since he was 1 years old he is currently 2. We really enjoy our visit every time they are very patient and the prices is best part. Other shops are charging 50 for a kids haircut
